If the machines that make the stuff of our lives are unseen to us, then the inner guts of those machines are especially hidden. This is a crankshaft from the deep recesses of one such machine. The table tops are Reuleaux triangles, named after a 19th-century egghead who was very interested in how machines could transform one type of motion into another.
