Paravanes were used by the Navy to remotely detonate underwater mines. Because they needed to move through the water in a very specific manner, their curved shape was the result of functional necessity rather than an aesthetic decision.
The young daughter of a friend mentioned that the ones I used must be the lucky ones since they didn’t get blown up, hence the piece named ‘Lucky’.
